Project management experts will provide students with hands-on experienceJanuary 19, 2012 - McMaster University students will have the chance to build project management skills at Take the Lead: A Workshop on Project Management, on Wednesday February 1, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Organized by the McMaster Health Forum Student Subcommittee, the workshop will be facilitated by two experts in the field of project management - Kelly Ann Pauly, a senior project manager at ArcelorMittal Dofasco, and Ori Schibi, an instructor with McMaster’s Project Management Program. The workshop is designed to provide students with skills they can use immediately in an array of situations, whether in an academic group, organizing campus events, or working in a clinical or health-related setting. It will take place in the Forum’s DialogueSpace, on the fourth floor of Mills Memorial Library. Pauly, who is also president of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) Lakeshore chapter, and Schibi, a senior change agent at Symphini Change Management, will help students develop their project management abilities by teaching them how to organize complex projects and be effective team leaders. The workshop will begin with brief presentations from Pauly and Schibi, which will be followed by a hands-on exercise to give participants an opportunity to practice the skills and principles from the presentations in a project management scenario or case study, and receive direct feedback from the workshop facilitators. Pauly will be joined by PMI Lakeshore colleagues Andrew Mills and Alison Copoc. The workshop is open to all students across campus, but space is limited to the first 50 participants who register.
