Dialogue outputs provide insights on the impact of globalization on health of Canadians

October 15, 2011 - The rise of globalization and how it can impact the health of Canadians is examined in documents and videos now available to the public on the McMaster Health Forum website.

The issue brief, dialogue summary, topic overview and interviews with participants were produced in conjunction with a stakeholder dialogue convened by the Forum, entitled Addressing Health and Emerging Global Issues in Canada. A total of 16 participants - including policymakers, civil society and public sector representatives, researchers, and global health strategy contributors and advocates - gathered to discuss how globalization has eroded the protective effect that national borders once offered to the health of Canadians, and what needs to happen to address such erosions.

The issue brief that informed the dialogue draws on research evidence to describe the challenges related to emerging global issues, and offers three options for addressing the problem, as well as implementation considerations.

While stakeholder dialogues are off-the-record discussions, all products produced in conjunction with a dialogue are publicly available on the Forum’s website, to encourage broader, informed dialogue and debate about a specific health issue.
